Default XC90 Metal Mesh Interior Scratches

Hi all

I am about to take delivery of a 2016 XC90 and has a few minor scratches to the metal mesh interior trim on the doors. Given these are textured, I’m guessing not possible to polish out. Any advice?

Thanks

ASA

Thanks I’ve asked them to replace the trim in the first instance.

See, that bugs me. You wouldn't buy a shirt and expect to have to negotiate to have missing buttons replaced or a seam sewn up, so why do vendors of used - but nevertheless very expensive - used cars think they can do so?

Still, that's my rant for the day. Hope you enjoy the new motor.

I expect the dealer will claim the price has been reduced to allow for the imperfection.

I quite like this process for fixing trim problems...

If you bought a 6 year old shirt you might expect some minor wear. You might not expect buttons missing, but they provide key functionality of the shirt. Some scratches on the trim do not affect the key functionality of the car.

The dealer has agreed to swap out for trim in better condition from another car. Fingers crossed.

They often claim it, but a quick scan of Autotrader shows that for the LOB it is.

Thats not all together accurate. If mere functionality is all a used XC90 buyer wants then they could have a Zafira for a 5th of the price, that moves an identical number of people, still manages all the legal speed limits, and costs a fraction to run.

But above and beyond functionality there is the simple experience of owning a nice premium car, somewhere nice to sit and something nice to simply enjoy the ownership of. If they want one with scratches then why bother looking at 30+ grand used cars in the first place when they could just have that Zafira?
