Should I have replaced the DMF?
Car: S60 D5 (185) my 2007, 104k miles.
The clutch slave cylider developed a major leak last week* and the AA recovered me to a garage who said that the clutch fluid had contaminated the clutch and the whole assembly needed replacing. When they had stripped it down they called me to ask if I wanted to replace the DMF as well. In view of the cost and the fact that they thought that the DMF looked in reasobale condition, I declined. I'm now wondering if I did the right thing? It's too late now obviously but any thoughts on likely DMF lifetimes would be welcome. Cheers. * PS: I got a 'brake fluid low - urgent service' message or similar a few weeks ago and simply topped up the reservoir and ignored it. If anyone gets a similar message investigate the cause asap or it could prove expensive! |
