Default Radiators

Dear All,

I'm in the market for a new radiator (old one has started to leak). Has anyone got any experience of changing one ? I know there are oil cooler connections and automatic transmission fluid connections also.

Cheers,

Chris

Where are you located Chris??

Have you tried Serck Marston Radiators?? They supply a cast guarantee on their part.

Hi Chris,

Not a bad job to do drop us a line if u don't have a Haynes manual and i give you a step by step guide. As for price i now Eurocarparts sell the OEM ones for about 110 quid plus vat. I would get new mounts for it and replace the piping while you are at it too. Expect to pay abit more at the dealer.

i have a new shape V70 T5 manual, and managed to extract the radiator, theres not much room to work and it get fidely, but its fairly straight forward, however i had to take of the fan first, and then all 3 seperate radiators and there associated pipes before i could remove the water radiator. I followed the haynes manual.
My radiator was beyond repair, so couldn't get it reconditioned i tried a few scraps yards for a second hand one, but no luck, so ended up buying it direct from volvo who had to ship it from sweden. total cost in VAT was £225.
best of luck with yours...

Thanks All,

Getting the Volvo part for same price as Ash. I've no turbo so no pipe work/intercooling to disconnect. I'm a bit concerned about the connections to the auto gearbox fluid cooler which runs through one tank of the radiator - it has connectors that I've not seen before !! I've ordered the 'O' rings for these connectors aswell

Cheers All,

Chris

Radiator swapped over today. Mostly straight forward with a couple of fiddly bits and pieces. Useful to have a second pair of hands when removing the old rad and inserting the new but otherwise OK. Will have to see if the gearbox fluid cooler connections leak or not over the next couple of days, but I replaced the 'O' rings and 'retainers' so hopefully all is well.
