Default Is it possible to turn off the seatbelt "Bonger"?

Just wondering whether it is possible to turn off the seatbelt 'Bonger'. I know it's a sensible safety feature, but hear me out:

I am a surveyor that deals with land, and I spend quite a lot of time on farm tracks and private roads driving around slowly inspecting things. These often have lots of gates (sometimes every few hundred yards) so I am in and out of the car a lot, and driving short distances at low speeds inbetween.

It is inconvenient and unneccessary to belt up, but the 'Bonger' is very infuriating. Can it be turned off? I would still wear a belt on the highway, and would also still have the warning lamp as a reminder.

If the car were less smart, I would just find the device and quell it, but it seems to be inbuilt in the stereo. Anyone any ideas?

If you can't find a suitable technical fix, I can think or a couple of the non-tech ways:
You could pull the passenger belt over and plug it in.
You could even have a seatbelt clip (from a breakers yard?) to put in there for those times etc...
Even simpler might be to plug the belt in and then sit on top of it - probably wouldn't be that uncomfortable and anyway its a few 100m going slowly on rough tracks!

Thanks Geoff, I hadn't thought of that.

Thnking about it some more- there's three levels of warning:

<5 MPH - nothing
5-10 MPH - 'Bing'
10-15 MPH - 'BONG'
15MPH+ - 'BLEEP!!'

I would quite happily keep the loud bleep over 15 MPH (which is definitely from the stereo). I wonder if the other noises are produced elsewhere...?

Another way is to pull the driver's seatbelt round the back of the seat & plug it in. Saves sitting on it.

I use an extender piece in my C70 that not only raises the receiver position higher, it makes the sensor always see that something is plugged in, so never beeps. The only negative is it a cheap Chinese extender with just one rivet taking the force in any accident, so I may well be through the screen if I do have an accident.

I was thinking of buying one of those and that was the very reason I didn't.
I have a clip from another C30 (must live in style) and use that ocasionally

Edit:
If you have a Parrot kit installed and you're on the phone then there is no beeping - so just call someone

Thanks all, (except Orca2) for the input.

Guess I'll go down the route of the spare clip.
