VOC National Thoresby thoughts.
Thanks to the organisers for a great weekend. Plenty of cars today, good entertainment last night and brilliant sunshine. Well done to all concerned, thanks to those who so generously successfully bid in the auction. Everyone I spoke to seemed to be having a good time. I particularly appreciate the Scottish members making the journey south and wonder if a Far Northern meet could be arranged next year across the border ?
My first stint at judging, difficult with so many good examples, in fact we had a couple of dead heats in some classes and had to ask another team to take a second look, it was a close thing with just one point separating some examples. Only down side for me was a lack of PVs, feel a bit guilty at winning when the only entrant, not hard to win but should it really be happening ? Regards, Richard VOC 3801. Had a great weekend and got home home 11.30pm 6 hours in the Amazon. Would love to see the National further North maybe in the borders. Food and entertainment was great along with the free camping. Venue was excellent. Meet loads of nice interesting people and saw lots of top Volvo`s too. Well done to all the organisers. Roll on next year.
Jim

We had a superb day yesterday and really enjoyed our fist VOC event!
It was great to meet such lovely and enthusiastic Volvo owners and to see so many Amazons together. Many thanks to all concerned!

Nice weather (in spite of the forecast, and apparently it was lousy at home in Norfolk).
Great location. Splendid cars. Lots of very nice people. Village Cricket to watch for a diversion! Got a set of Bargain windscreen wipers. Even the ice cream wasn't a rip off!! What more could you want for a day out. BTW someone mentioned a Northern location, Where is Scotland again?? LOL Thanks to the organisers

An excellent weekend made even more memorable by the setting and location for this years event. My thanks to the organisers for the tremedous effort in arranging the BKV and long may it continue. The turn out was very good with iirc about 125 cars for judging and some spectacular examples of pristine models. Congratulations to all trophy winners, commiserations to those to didn't and roll on 2010.
Cheers |

This was my first voc event, well what can i say.If anyone said to me all ages and nationality's couldn't get on together in one place i would have laughed in there face up until the BKV.I cannot thank all the organisers enough for all there hard work and effort to make last weekend the best weekend my son and i have had for a very long time.So many nice people. Thanks to Roy and his wife and the rest of the c&c team for the effort they put into the evenings entertainment (Matthew enjoyed the hog roast"4 sarnies").Thanks to all the voc team for the extensive effort they put into getting everyone in the right place at the right time. We both look forward to seeing you all again at next years BKV and hopefuly seeing you all at Weatherby at the end of july. Thanks again Andrew & Matthew (jiggsy's junk emporium)

I very much enjoyed it. My first national. Some lovely volvos that you just wouldnt see outside a national volvo show unless you were very lucky. Got to meet lots and lots of people, picked up some rare parts I had been after, and got some nice comments on my car

Fantastic event, (again), all the organisers deserve a good pat on the back, weather was great, as was the venue and the complete day, great to meet old and new friends, we should all wear badges with our forum 'names' to help identify ourselves, will have to spend some time tomorrow removing nearly 800 miles of dead flies from the 240 !
Any chance of all the entrants at the BKV coming up to Scotland for the next 'National' ? Cheers, Kevin. Does anyone have a contact for the autojumble stand that had all the new volvo badges ? Last edited by kev240; Jun 22nd, 2009 at 22:51. Reason: Question |

It's great to have the positive feedback.
I agree it was a very good day, and I really do hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Maybe I have a short memory, maybe I did different classes, but the standard of cars did seem higher than normal. A lot of the credit must go to John Allam who masterminded the event, and as I am sure everyone will appreciate there was a great deal of work behind the scenes to make sure everything ran as smoothly as it did. Now given the current economic climate, and clashing with the British Grand Prix, it would have been perfectly reasonable to have expected the turnout to fall, (and I know other Club's are really suffering) - BUT it is fantastic that the VOC is bucking the trend and the number of cars in the arena were 121, up on the previous years of 105, and 102. A massive increase of 15%! I can think of many businesses which would like to be growing at 15% year on year, and sadly in reality, many businesses which would be delighted with reducing their losses to only 15% down year on year! I know John is now busy starting work on next year's...........!! How much can it grow next year! (No pressure John!) Chris |
