Default Audio Upgrade

Hi all
I have MY2020 V60 r design
I have the basic speakers and wanted to update them as they suuuuck!

I've seen post on installing the H&K system but

A ) not sure where to find a kit
B) not sure how to fit
And
C) not if it will fit on the standard equipment

Is there a retro fitting service?

Cheers

Thumbs up

I would search for a local car accessory shop and call in for a chat. It is likely that they would be able to recommend someone local who can install uprated speakers etc. Alternatively you could search 'car audio specialist near me'. Good luck.

I also have a car with the basic sound system and found that the sound is quite harsh and very in-your-face when turned up. I decided to bite the bullet and purchased some aftermarket speakers which are a like for like replacement in the front and rear. I had them fitted by a local professional who also fitted some sound deadening material in the front and back doors.

Volvo 2016+ Audio Upgrade Kits (phoenixgold-eu.com)

I have left the existing amplifier alone although there is also an option to upgrade that. The speaker change has made a big difference particularly in the bass department.

I’ve switched off all of the sound processing so only have the default settings in Sensus. In fact I have turned the bass down slightly. I found a big improvement by tweaking the fader control to about half way behind the front seats. This has the effect of filling the car with sound rather than being shouted at by the front speakers. The amplifier has to work a bit harder but I haven’t had any problems yet.

Or you could buy and install this. It’s made for your Volvo, All plug and play and just update speakers to quality ones?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234710867...mis&media=COPY

I updated my speakers front and back to 6.5 inch 3 way and that alone made a hugh difference.

I made a post here of the ones I used. Was from Amazon quite cheap and great quality and sound too.

The link you used is for the optional amplifier upgrade which I haven't invested in yet. Have you tried that as well and did it make much difference?

I believe this replaces your current amplifier and should pump much more juice to your current speakers. I believe this gives you equivalent power to the top end system used in Volvo.

So rather than sourcing a bw or hk complete kit of speakers and amps as well as the headache of retro fitting it remove old amp plug this in, in its place and then either keep same speakers or upgrade to better quality 6.5 bass and mids.

A cheaper alternative I’d say that would work just as well.

I myself just upgraded the 6.5 mids to some heavy duty 3 way 6.5s and this amp was the next part to add which I haven’t done yet.

The speakers alone made a big difference from the paper ones in there that were rattling away.

Slapz

I've done the speaker upgrade which has helped a lot but I'm still wondering about the amp. The rather limited instructions for it suggest that it has to be mounted in the boot rather than just replacing the existing amp under the drivers seat.

I think it’s a replacement aka old one out new one in same place under the seat and original wiring plugs into harness and harness into amp.

This is the complete lineup they do for our Volvos. Amps speakers and more. Oem fitting.

https://phoenixgold-eu.com/product-c...o-integration/

This has complete Info on the amp

https://phoenixgold-eu.com/product/z...-power-up-kit/

Have a look.

Warm regards

Looking at those (confusing) instructions it seems to retain the original amp.

Locate the Original amplifier under right from seat and disconnect the Original wires from the amplifier and
connect the leads from the amp to the amplifier and the other end to the original connector
