Default V70 D5 Resonator Box (Delete) Engine Noise Issue.

Hi Folks and new to the group. Just become the owner of a 2005 V70 D5 182bhp and the previous owner had the issue of the resenator box pipe blowing off.

As such he had replaced it with one of those after market flexible hoses. However I find the car to be very, very noisy driving about town inside the cabin and wondering if the engine nose increases when the original resinator box has been removed. Sounds like the exhaust is blowing and had the under tray off and cant see any issue with exhaust.

Might just have to refit the old one he gave me with new seals and see if it helps, but wondering if anybody else has noticed an increase in engine noise doing this mod? Thanks.

I replaced the resonator on my D5 XC with a silicone pipe twice - once because the first (cheap!)pipe I got was fairly thin, abraded quickly on another component(my fault) and seemed to produce a bit more noise than the original resonator. The second had a wall thickness probably 50% greater and was quieter. Having said that, neither produced an offensive amount of noise. If both ends of the replacement pipe are still firmly held in place ( the top jubilee clip is ......interesting to get to!) I'd be looking for a leak elsewhere.
