Default XC60 tyres and brake pads

Any advice on the above, will be looking for put a full set of tyres on ours (62 reg) and front pads will want doing as well.

Anything I need to know? I am not keen on continental tyres full stop, has anyone got a recommendation for replacements? I will not be going the budget route if I can help it.

Also brake pads, which brand do Volvo use as OEM and is there anything I need to know, do they use electronic wear indicators etc or can I just swap em myself?

Might do the rears whilst I am at it, I have access to a fully equipped workshop so it's no drama.

Thanks for any advice.

Have a look at the all-season tyre options. Goodyear, Michelin or Nokian are the best. Check prices on MyTyres and Oponeo.

I'll be putting another set of these Nokian Weatherproof all season tyres on.
Great performance wet or dry and lasted way longer than any other tyre I've had, with the exception of some factory fitted Michelins on a Merc way back.!

I have been running the Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season on ours and love them. The handing and stability is much crisper than the original summer tyres and the wear rate is almost unbelievable. I have done 23,000 miles and the fronts still have 5mm and the rears 6mm.

With regard to brakes, the bigger XC Volvo's are hard on front brakes and most of the aftermarket (which claim to be OEM) are not as good as Volvo originals. Volvo do cast some of their own disks, although ATE make many of Volvo's brake parts it is likely that they cannot sell the same brake pads as the mixture will be Volvo's own intellectual property.

Hence I would strongly recommend Volvo original pads, some dealers sell on e-bay at discounted prices.

With regard to tyres, most of the popular alternatives have been mentioned. If you want a good value all weather option the Cooper Discoverer (MS2) is very good and quiet - I've had these on my XC90 for 3 winters now. They are often on Oponeo. I too am not keen on the Conti's, though they do last a long time...
