Winter kit
It amazes me that having a car from a country with severe winters and despite having a winter kit fitted; my 2008 XC has no heated windscreen washers!! Last two company cars (BMW & Ford) both had them. Were they ever fitted? Or has anyone done a DIY on them?

I agree, the lack of a heated windscreen is a big oversight by Volvo, my wife's Focus can clear ice in about 30 seconds from cold, and she is off leaving me scraping away!
A couple of years ago, someone on this forum was investigating having some heated screens made, having a batch made brought the cost down to resonable levels, but I don't know if he ever did it or not.

This has been discussed a some length on the forum and the conclusion as far as I remember was that the heated screens could cause the screen to shatter, hence the reason Volvo don't use them.

The new style S80 has them, though with the weather we have had so far this winter I haven't seen them in use. I will have a look this weekend to see if I can fit them them to the xc90, as it looks like they are always on with the ignition and if the nozzle mounts on the bonnet are the same, should just be a case of ordering them from Rufe and making a wiring harness.
