Default UK 2020 MY XC60 T6 - 48v Battery

Picking up our Volvo Selekt XC60 R-Design Pro T6 tomorrow - honestly can’t wait, I’m like a kid at Christmas!

During my test-drive, I was poking around the boot and under the floor was a 48V battery. According to the dealer, it’s because the T6 is a mild hybrid, but because it uses the engine to charge the battery rather than regenerative braking, it’s not formally classed as a MHEV.

It’s a 69-plate MY2020 (ex-showroom demo, 1 owner since) and very high-spec (Family, Xenium, Winter, Intellisafe, B&W) - I’ve run the VIN through some online decoders and come out with the correct engine code (A3) which resolves to the correct engine model (B4204T29), but I can’t find any mention of any mild-hybrid part of the chain.

Would anyone have any details on the T6-with-battery combination, spec-sheets, MY20 PDFs features provided by the battery? Is it just a B6 without regenerative braking?

You’ve got a bit of an odd one there! The 48v mild hybrid models are all badged B something, to my knowledge there has never been one with T badging, those are either petrol or plug in hybrid. There is this MY20 pricelist which matches your T6 R-design pro spec other than the 48v battery. Very peculiar!

I thought the 12v battery was under spare and the 48v in the engine bay.

The 12v starter battery is at the rear; if the car has a 48v support battery it’s at the rear too, if it has a 12v support battery (old fashioned start stop), thats in the engine bay. When I had a B4 on order I took the boot to bits in the showroom to see if my current spare kit would fit around the 48v battery…
