Main car battery reset without VIDA
Hi
Is there a work around for the battery reset when replacing the main car battery. My battery is dying and I need a new one. I am aware that the car needs to be reset after the battery is replaced but I don't have VIDA and my diag does not seem to have this function...any help would be appreciated

Battery change
Before I sold my 2009 XC60 I swapped the newish battery over to the 2014 XC60. Both cars just have the 1 main battery.
I just disconnected and reconnected things and both cars worked fine after the swapover. Maybe it's just later model XC60s that need some procedure followed ?

The procedure below will reset the BMS:
1. Switch on ignition (do not start engine) 2. Switch on dipped beam 3. Press the rear fog light button six times (on-off-on-off-on-off) 4. Press the hazard lights button three times (on-off-on) 5. The battery symbol on the dash should flash quickly three times. Used it myself and it does work. |

Not on a car without stop/start it doesn't. I tried several times on my 2011 car, it does nothing.

Not true. They failed to reset the BMS properly on my car when changing the battery with the result that it constantly nagged about low battery charge even though battery WAS at 80% charge and it kept charging voltage at a staggering 15V because it thought the battery was almost out of juice. Did a reset per the procedure in VIDA and left the car off for 6 hours as the instruction also said, been fine since.

My previous S60 was on the original battery when I got rid of that car at nine years old. The S60 I have now needs one roughly every four years.

I tried the sensor on the battery first as there was a 'fix' there (taking it off and waiting for a reset) but that didn't work, however the one above did for me. |
