Default Volvo 440 Gear Knob Removal?

Hi folks,

Just wondering how one can remove the gear knob on a post facelift 1994 440 GLT? Mine is a bit worn, and there's a low mileage J reg mk1 440 in my local hard with an unworn one. The web and forum don't seem to have any details that I can find, so any help greatly appreciated.

my idea was change the entire stick - go under the car, disconnect the stick from the bar to the gearbox, then look under the centre console and lift out the gearstick from its box of tricks - refit.

I only had a cursory look as my mrs wanted a lift to the pub to see her mates :/ sorry

have a butchers here - might reveal some clues http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...-control/1522/
