Default Sqeek from front wheel.

Hi folks, looking for a wee bit of advice,

When i am turning the car i get a high pitched sqeeking noise coming from the front wheel, drivers side. It seems to be happening more frequently when i turn to the left. It's not too loud but i can hear it if i have the window down.

Can anyone suggest what might be the cause of this?

Car has done 102000 miles now, kinda expecting things like this to start happening. Looking at what i can do to fix it. Car goes in for a service next week.

Cheers,

Tom

Could be a stone stuck between the brake disc and the metal guard plate behind it. Try pushing the plate back to see if anything drops out.

It's actually the heatshield. They are fixed on a kind of pivot and can be pushed out of centre really easily and rub on the back of the brake disc. It's happened loads of times on my car and tbh I thought it was something quite bad as the sound it makes is horrendous.

Simple fix; turn your steering to full lock and pop your hand around the wheel and re-centre the heatshield.

Or it could be a cat stuck in the wheel arch.
