Default Which Chip?

I dont want opinions or arguments I just want a poll of who has what and how they rate it.

If you did use another Chip - make it know who you used, how much it cost and how long you have had it

Hi

If I could vote again, I'd vote again, if that makes sense.

I've had RICA 310, RICA 340 and MTE 19T map.

Chris

Hi Mate had the Rica 310 on a 16T and thought it was too laggy, so ran it with a MBC, tried a MTE a few weeks ago and loved the way it chucked you back in your seat,
I am going MTE this time, as it is more local to me, and a lot cheaper,

Gary.

Thats funny cos I had the same issue with my old C70 on the TME map!...needed the MBC to make it feel as it should.

I have a sneaking suspicion that many cars dont respond well to "standard" maps from any of the tuners and such cars would benefit by some custom tuning.

Hi.
That is probably why no 2 cars are the same even with the manufacturers standard map. All engines are slightly different, even when new.

This is good - great feedback guys.

I dont want people kicking off against each other - I want owner opinions - those people who sit in their cars - have paid their money - and whether they like what they got.

I had my BMW Z3 2.2 chipped - not a huge power gain - but no rev-limiter meant 60mph could be had in 2nd gear instead of the 3rd. Not a big difference - but it was enough to make me very happy.

I would like to make a point, that i found the Rica too in your face, felt like all the power at once when it did eventually come in, and the MTE the only reason i didn't give it 100% was because i was running a 16T and i felt the power run out at 5800rpm,
I am now running a 19T hybrid and on Tuesday it will have a race cat and 3" downpipe fitted, so then i will get the car MTE'd.

I originally had the Rica 305 chip fitted which was expensive as it was about £500 when I had it fitted a few years ago. The current price is about £300 which is much more realistic. Even so it made a huge difference to the performance both in increased power at high rpm and and an even bigger gain in torque at lower rpm.
When I later fitted a 19T Adam sent me a custom map for £100 which is the cost to existing customers to adjust the boost and fuel setttings for this larger turbo.
I've always been very happy with the service from Adam at VT and would recommend him.
When I had my first remap done Kalmar had only started doing mte remaps and VT had a long record of satisfied customers which swung the decision for me. If Rica prices were still as high today I would seriously consider an mte remap but as they are about the same now I would recommend Rica and VT. Having an on site rolling road and the fact they check the car over to make sure it is suitable for a remap is a bonus.
I notice the original poster claims he has had his BMW chipped. I've always found that chipping a N/A car gives nothing like the gains of that on a turbo car simply because most of the increased performance comes from increasing the turbo boost pressure.

I notice 3 people are not 100% happy with the MTE chip. Could anyone explain why this is?

Thanks
Simon
