Default V70 auto-window up half works

The one touch window up feature on my drivers side window seems very temperamental.

Sometimes I can press the one-touch up feature and the window takes itself all the way to the top. However, sometimes it gets about half way up then goes all the way back down!

A quick google suggested similar problems on other models but they seem to have to the problem when their windows reach the top, then come back down. Mine barely reaches half way...

Anyone else had this?

Thanks

Hi,

Perhaps the window mechanism thinks there is an obstruction, so stop and retract.
So chances are your window felt/rubber has worn and needs replacing or a temporary fix with a little lubricant?

Des. . .

Clean the channels, clean the windows, use a silicone based spray and see what happens.

Don't use WD40 or anything oil based it can rot the channels.

I've got exactly the same on my V70. It was still under warranty, so the dealer recalibrated the window at the last service. This solved the problem to begin with, but now it's doing it again.

Time to have a proper look myself. Will report back....

two things come to mind (I've experienced both!).

1) if you have recently disconnected your battery you need to re-calibrate each window one at a time. Easy stuff: just roll each window down and raise it by partially lifting the button (don't engage the auto close). Hold the button half raised until the window is all the way up. When it reaches the top, lift the button all the way until the window makes a subtle sound. That's it.

2) As per previous post, your felt strip may be worn down. Try spraying silicon along the edge of the felt where it contacts the window. if it gets better, it means you are due for a new strip. Not that hard to install. Just need to take door card, mirror and window out.
