Don't bother not worth the trouble or risk. From my experience Bio Diesel is filthy.
Buy a few litres in a clear container and let it settle for a day or two. You'll no doubt see a vast amount of debris at the bottom of the container. This is going straight into your fuel filter, but before it gets there it has to go through your lift pump (I'm not that experienced with Volvo Diesels but if they do have a lift pump, you're on a hiding to nothing). It will block the lift pump and and stainer and also your fuel filter, putting even more strain on your high pressure fuel pump. You might save 20p per litre, but depending on your mileage, thats alot of miles to pay for rebuilding your fuel system. I ran a Rover 220 Diesel with a Dieselveg dual tank preheat system for 3 years doing over 150K. I ran it on clean, virgin veg oil from local Makro at approx 75p per litre. It was ok but still cost me a couple of Bosch fuel pumps along the way. Barry

Don't know about your model, but I've done 50k in my 1.9 S40 mostly on 100% homebrew biodiesel, no problems so far.

Been using virgin veg oil from various sources (supermarket, cash and carry, etc) for at least ten years in many and diverse diesels. I also use biodiesel from a large producer in my local area. The biodiesel (90p a litre) they supply is said to be at least the same quality as pump diesel so far as cleanliness is concerned. I know they supply large fleet users and have never experienced any probs in my wifes golf diesel. I do make a point of running the tank down and filling up with pump diesel now and then and I do change filters regularly, this is good practice anyway, I have seen all sorts of muck in the filters of cars running on pump diesel! it may be worth having a look for a biofuel forum, I bet theres one out there?
