Default Date stamp on the water pump

Hi All

I have the timing belt off to change it after 15 years (2006) and around 40K miles. I am not sure if the water pump was also changed at the time, and I am not sure if I should change it as I don’t see any signs of leaking and it turns freely. I am trying to see the date on the pump but its not too clear. Any ideas what the numbers mean, and thoughts on changing it.

Many thanks.

If it is a genuine Volvo pump and is showing no signs of wear or leaks then leave it well alone.

I changed the Belt for the second time on my old 2005 xc70 d5 at 186K and the original pump was still absolutely fine. I left it alone and the car has now covered well over 200k.

If you feel that you must change it, only fit a genuine pump but from your description your old one sounds fine .👍

As above ^^^^^^^

I have never changed a water pump and had cars cover 270,000mls and 370,000mls still on the original pump with no issues. Timing belt and tensioner and auxiliary belt and tensioner are more important to change at the reccomend intervals.

Well posted , Your car is in Miles !!! ALL this about this "K" etc , It stands for Kilometres people, and it would mean a Very low Mileage car !!

+1 on leaving it if I works fine, they are strong pumps.

If you need to replace, OEM Volvo or Aisin (which is the OE supplier, you can even see where they ground down the Volvo logo on it)
