Talking MY14 S60- my first Volvo

So then, first post and first Volvo.

Thanks to a promotion I've been given a company car- After about a month of umming and arring, dragging the missus from one dealer to another, I finally settled on the S60....Or rather, the S60 won me over the second I got behind the wheel:

~The Mondeo Mk4 was- well, mundane as I've been running a Mk3 for the last couple of years, so it really wasn't enough of a change to make the difference.

~The Audi A4 was silly money for less kit to have 4 rings on the bonnet

~The VW Passat was just dour in every respect- again, not helped by two days a week in a new VW Polo as a pool car, making it feel yawnsome.

~I couldn't consider a BMW 3 series because- well, I can work an indicator stalk.

~The Vauxhaul Insignia appeared to be a spiritual successor to my old Rover 75 in all the wrong ways.

~And the Mazda 6 came a close second due to the nice looks, but the interior appeared to have been laid out at random and the 'toys' were mediocre.

So- the S60 kinda chose itself:
I read all the reviews and there seems to be a consensus "It's great but it's not as X as Y"- where X is a typical German brand and Y is some one dimension that important to the inner Clarkson in car reviewers

I've gone with:
Volvo S60 Diesel Saloon D4 [163] Business Edition
Active TFT Crystal Display
Automatic folding door mirrors with ground lights
Heated front seats
Rain sensor windscreen wipers
Winter Pack.

...In Passion Red- because saving £625 on metallic paint lets me get that funky display and the folding mirrors.....And let's not even talk about the thick end of a grand for those special paints!

Should be with me in a couple of months, with a bit of luck!

I think that is a great spec you have gone for. Should be a lovely drive.

Please give updates when you get the car. There are not enough reviews of the S60/V60's on here so the more the merrier.

Thanks!- When it arrives I'll make sure I write a bit of a review.

The Winter Pack really sold me- A heated front windscreen is one of the finest inventions of the late 20th century in my humble opinion.

Like my current Mondeo- Heated side mirrors, heated washer jets, heated front windscreen all make for a less stressful start to a winter morning....With the S60, heated seats will mean a nice warm perch to park too

Good choice...also it has one thing you forgot to mention. The best seats in a car by far.

Great choice by you and like your combo of spec, colour and extras. I wish I had the TFT and heated screen on mine ! Looking forward to your review, and I will be posting mine in a few weeks after a trip to spain and back.

Is that the bit where you clean the car?....Yeah, I've heard tell you can do that.
