Rear light cluster bolts
Trying to change a parking light bulb. Rear on-side. Bottom bolt came out no problem with spanner. Top bolt seemed stiff but turns - kept on turning but the bolt didn't slacken. I think the bolt is stuck. Any ideas?

I changed my indicator bulbs the other day and all 4 bolts came out easily, so there is definitely something wrong

changed the other side a couple of weeks ago. I was staggered by the size of the bolts!!!
I think its turning by not the thread, its turning the whole mounting as there is a squeaking when I turn the spanner. Very awkward position too. |

Sounds to me like a previous owner has overtightned the bolts which has damaged the plastic where the bolt it's moulded into the light cluster.
Try pulling the bolt as you undo it and hope the bolt pulls out of the plastic then you can get the light ckuster out. Once it's out you'll be able to get in with pliers or grips to undo the nut and bolt. Then epoxy the bolt back into the cluster and then put the light back on the car but bon't overtighten the nut! hope that helps. |

If your replacing the whole cluster then try sliding a flat head screwdriver down black plastic at the back of the light, middle to the outside of the car. Ten prise it open while trying to loosen the bolt. May give it some purchase.
If your replacing the unit anyway it's not so bad if it cracks then. |
