The big one V70 625k miles
It MIGHT be for sale.
12 months MOT, driving like a dream.A conversation piece. 47 service stamps, 6 cam belts. Just spent £250 to get it thru MOT, drop link, ARB, prop shafts both sides. And just had an oil service. It drives well, have done 4k without issue. Aircon ice cold, cruise good, MPG spot on. Geartronic smooth. It had a new autobox at 400k miles. Seats v comfy, the HiFI is top, all CDs readily accepted. ;-) Tail wipe/ washer also saying hello. Sensible offers? Last edited by MG68; Aug 12th, 2017 at 15:57. |

Silver 53 Reg V70 D5 estate Geartronic which is for sale.
Extensive service history, 47 services, 6 cambelts, inc. water pump @ 600k. (2014). Mileage now 625k. This was featured in the Volvo to the moon article, which you will find on an Internet search. Much of its history would appear to have been working as a "people mover" on the motorways to airports, the capital etc. The best place for it. No evidence of a tow bar. Even better. Car has approx 12 months MOT, had new driveshafts, ARB, drop link for the MOT last month. Drives very well. Had the car oil changed last month, and the guy who carried out the work was Volvo dealer trained. He couldn't believe how the car ran on the mileage. Oil level has remained Rock solid since. Car has leather seating no rips or tears, nice patina and incredibly comfy, electric driver seat, it has heated seats but I don't think they work. Aircon is ice cold. Cruise control engages freely. Geartronic smooth with no bangs or noise. Electric tilt / retract sunroof perfect. Brilliant HiFi/ CD working well. Dolby pro logic. Rear load cover present. Alloys are 17" Orestres, would benefit from a refurb. Tyres all serviceable. Bodywork straight, no rust to speak of because these do not. Faults: Other than the heated seats, the only other niggle to mention is that the car will throw an 'engine service required' message the first time it sees 2.5k revs. It doesn't affect the running of the car whatsoever, no limp mode / yellow triangle, and will continue to move along at any speed afterwards. I'll post up pictures shortly. This is a rare opportunity. Virtually zero existing V70s in this country will ever hit the same mileage in anywhere near the same condition, or indeed at all, if the Govt have their way. A real conversation piece. I think you're right - incredibly difficult to value as it stands. Some would say it's worth peanuts, others much differently.
I see ads for similar V70s with 150k - 200k miles perhaps a year or two younger that have been serviced maybe a dozen times in their lifetime. My thinking is this one has been super serviced at 47 times, so it's now a keeper. I've had brand new BMWs, Landrovers, Mercs, and this is still the most fulfilling car to drive at 14 years and 625k. It's not the quickest, but I like the design, and the seats are the comfiest I think I ever experienced. My wife's 63reg BMW I drive now and again to the village shop and back, and it feels like you are sat on top of the seats on leather / cardboard. It has to be this one, you got the pictures too, by the way I wanted to buy it, but I don't need a diesel. It was up for 700 at the time
