VIDA is only for Volvo cars, and those up to 2014 or 2015. This is the best resource I've found for VIDA downloads: https://volvodiag.com/

The only addition I would make to what has been said is that laptops capable of efficiently running VIDA are very cheap second hand as it is an obsolescent program and will run perfectly well on obsolescent machines. That way you don't have to have anything else on the machine. You can set it up as a special for purpose tool for your car. You can choose an old but physically robust machine like a ThinkPad with metal frame and you don't have to worry if it gets knocked about in a garage environment as that is what it will be for. You can buy a perfectly good suitable laptop for less than the cost of the DiCE adapter/connector! If you are going to keep your Volvo for a long time, VIDA/DiCE is one of the best investments you will make, whether or not you actually carry out the work yourself or give it to a garage. Knowing what the problem is going to be puts you in a strong position when dealing with garages.
