Default wanted to fit LED lights on bumper

Hi guys,

Has anyone fitted LED lights on bumper before? I wanted to bring my xc90 up-to-date. I found two on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2905953790...#ht_2071wt_905

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1107348438...#ht_4256wt_905

I don't know what's the different between them and are they easy to fit?

Any advice?

Cheers
Leo

Raife,

I think they look good. I am not sure where your installation finished so:

1. Have you had the Volvo mod to turn off the permanant "headlight on" feature?
2. do they come on with the ignition & then go out when other lights are switched on?
3. do they still allow existing sidelights to work normally?
4. Are they e marked for legality?

Hi Chris,

1. Have you had the Volvo mod to turn off the permanant "headlight on" feature?
No I haven't bothered, I figured they are in addition to the original "DRL" features of the Volvo!
2. do they come on with the ignition & then go out when other lights are switched on?
The are on with ignition and as yet I haven't altered that, they are on ALL the time day and night. I have found that my fitting means that they brightest beam is pointing slightly outwards so they don't dazzle on coming drivers but will be brightest to those potentially pulling out on me (the main aim of the installation)
3. do they still allow existing sidelights to work normally?
I wired them into my existing sidelights and left original sidelights in. I can turn the lights to sidelights only and they work then.
4. Are they e marked for legality?
Not sure to be totally truthful!!

For what they cost I decided I would just "play" and see how they looked and if I decided I didnt like them I would just replace the little grills I had to cut for their installation.

There are LOTS of DRL led kits on the market, I think Bills have a daylight sensor inbuilt so they switch off at night (which is advised by highways) but they were about £100 I think!! Not "play" money for me!!!

Do you think these two will do the job?

I am sure that they will fit, I am sure there was a thread from ages ago where a guy used the "bendable" strip LEDS in the grills.

I'll search....
