Steering Again!
Hi,
I had previously posted about lumpy/tight spots in the steering when the straightening the wheel from a light right hand smooth bend. I have changed wheels, had alignment done and had the car checked by Volvo with no diagnosis. I have also noticed sometimes while sitting stationary in traffic the wheel staring to oscillate side to side, however the movement is only perhaps 1 cm each way. Just trying to work out where to start looking as there are no codes and the mechanical side of the steering all seems secure. The car does have EPAS with Park Pilot. Many thanks. Seashell.

My 2012 XC60 D5 76k miles also does this. I have lubricated the universal joints but still have the same fault ?????

I'm possibly thinking torque/angle sensor or steering motor.
I do believe that these are integral to the rack and cannot be replaced separately.

Mines of into Volvo anyway tomorrow so I'll get them to have a look. Only downside is it's not doing it all the time I'd almost say mine is more noticeable when it's wet on the ground.

Same with mine. Seems to be only on nice smooth road surfaces and only when doing a gentle right hand turn, steering wheel about 10°, then lumpy when going to 12 o'clock.
Noticed it on the sweeping roads in North Wales about a year ago and haven't been able to pin down a cause yet. The wheel movement in traffic also only happens occasionally.

I'll see what Volvo say how ever I have a feeling they won't have a clue I find with dealers if it has no fault codes or nothing that obvious they say let it develope. I two have had 4 wheel laser alignment and everything checked when I had new tires put on and everything was fine.
