Body/Trim: 70: - 850 tailgate latch work on a P1 V70?

Hi All

I unlocked my phase 1 V70 at the same moment my missus tried to open the tailgate, and it's not worked since

I've found an 850 tailgate latch on ebay, for a 94 850. Does anyone with experience of this think it will work in my 1999 V70?

I think they are the same as when my 850 one needed replacing recently the part number was the same for early V70 I think. There are some pics in my thread here which may help and show part numbers:

However, given what you describe, are you sure it's not just the little rod that actuates it from the handle that's popped off? Take the trim off inside the tailgate and have a look, also try unplugging the electrics to the mechanism as it appears to reset it back to the correct state. Easy to replace if not, you'll need a T40 Torx bit if I remember correctly

Thanks Stu B, this is really useful. I've found someone breaking a V70 on Facebook, and bought the tailgate latch from him, but I'll be trying to fix it first.
