Resetting remote key for and service light not working

Hi there
Tried to reset my service light and my remote locking following the guides on other threads last night;

i.e.

Remote Fob turn ignition from off to on (position ii) 5 times etc
Nothing happened. Not even the flashing light on the top of the dash. Any ideas?

Also went to the service reset via using the diagnosis box, and you're suppose te plug the fly lead into socket 7 (on the B box yes?) but nothing happened, further more it seems that there is no electrical connection going in to seven. Is it possible it got fitted the wrong way around?
If you are looking at the diagnosis box from the front the A bottom is at the front left and the B letter is on the back right. Sound okay?

reg m755prx year 1994 i think
2.0 litre
10v i think (doesn't say 20v on the spark plug cover so always presumed it was 10v)
