Interior light bulb change
Hi.
This is my first post here and hoping you can help. I just got a 2010 S80 V8 about 6 weeks ago and so far it has been great however i decided to do a couple of little upgrades (namely changing out some of the lights to LEDs). I have swapped over the number plate and boot lights to some nice CANBUS LEDs which look great however I would really like to do the interior lights too but have ran into a problem. Does anyone know how to get access to the front and rear overhead courtesy/map lights? There doesn't seem to be any way to remove the clear plastic cover to get at the bulbs. The footwell and boot lights were really easy as there was a small notch where I just used a flat head screwdriver and popped off the cover. However the overhead lights don't have this and I cannot see anyway to access them (without causing damage). Thanks in advance for any help you can give. |

can you not remove the whole light pod from the ceiling appature..??, then dismantle from the rear of the unit.
i intend to do mine soon...not the same car but every motor ive owned ive changed the courtesy lighting & ALL of them required the removal of the whole unit.

I had a look and it doesn't seem like the whole unit comes off. On closer inspection it does look like the clear plastic lens is held in place with clips but there just doesn't seem to be a way to get it out without removing it. I looked in the handbook again and it says the overhead lights should only be changed by the dealer so they must have a way to do it. Not sure if this involves any special tools etc. I thought about maybe buying a plastic pry tool set to see if this would work (I don't want to got at it too much with a metal screwdriver in case I break something).

I done it in mine. You have to take a whole cluster down. I have cut my fingers cos edges are sharp so just watch yourself. You need at least one canbus led in courtesy lights. I done mi e with non canbus and after switching them off they were still glowing. No error on dash. Whole unit just praise off from holder. Front and back. If you still have a problem I have sunday off so can help.
