Got a snapped coil spring on the rear, can’t get it up in the air so didn’t spot it and wasn’t rattling.
Getting the garage to do both rear springs - why can I see a fairly hefty bill coming 😢 |

It's no more than 30 minutes per side diy ncluding a cup of tea and a natter with your neighbour on your drive, if your able obviously, less time for garage on a lift so shouldn't be a horrendous bill.

I’d usually do it myself, but struggling for time and to be fair I don’t enjoy lying under the car on a cobbled drive as I’m getting older. The garage can get the trade.

I can do them about 15 mins each side, just one bolt to remove on the lower arm bush and the spring drops out.... easy peasey....
So no I wouldn't expect a big bill.

Hopefully no big bill for you, the rears are much easier than the front, especially if you have nivomat as the springs are so soft.

Set me back £400 (£140 labour) for mot and both rear springs, not helped by feeling lazy and not DIY’ing. Still it’s getting on a bit, I should expect the odd bill coming in now.
I need to address the front bumper at some point, it’s had a bad respray at some time before I bought the car and looks a mess. I think the bill to sort that will make suspension repairs seem like a drop in the ocean haha. |

Just noticed today that the car seems to be sitting really high at the back now.
I’d say a couple of inches higher than previously. Is that likely to to worn springs, or the nagging doubt I have that the garage has used the wrong springs. Are the r-design springs shorter than a standard model? |

after market springs or volvo genuine the garage should have matched the springs by the coloured band markings on the old springs to determine length and spring rate.
