Default 1998 V70R - boot lock won't turn?

Hi all,

My resto continues. My boot lock barrel will not turn. I have flooded it with fluids, but nothing. The car was lain for 8 years.

I have asked the previous owner of 17 years and he swears blind its never been changed and that it used to work.

I have spoken with Volvo today and a new boot lock cut to my chassis is available for £100.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you have two keys for the car and which one were you using? Volvo have a system of slightly different keys with one having square grooves in the sides and the other having a v shaped groove, one should open the boot and glovebox the other shouldn’t. From other people’s posts on here it sometimes seems to get confused on the estate cars.

The tailgate lock on the estate cars should work with the valet key, it should be the same key for everything. The valet key will not open the glovebox lock
