Vida Dice - Windows 10 update
Just got my vida dice the other day there and upgraded to windows 10 today and now dice does not work. I've tried to do a fresh install and update drivers etc but no luck
Anyone else came across this problem.... Im using it via VMware Player so the update should not cause it any interruptions. Also ive still not had the chance to play about with it, anyone got any good tips or anything that I may find amusing? Thanks

Used the dice on my laptop with windows 8.1. Yesterday I upgraded to windows 10 but the DICE isn't working anymore. I'm not using VMWare btw. Hope someone has an answer.

So is it your VMware that's running a guest OS of Windows 10?
I'd keep the guest OS with VIDA as is ie. XP or Win7. If it's the Host OS that's Win10 then usually as long as it sees a USB device, even unidentified it can be connected to the VM and the drivers are inside the guest. |

Yes my laptop is running windows 10 and vida is running with windows 7 along with vm if that makes sense.
My computer recognised the usb and installed the driver but not pairing up with the software. I have an old laptop that I can pop in a hdd and install windows 7. Where can I get the software for vida instead of vm hosting it? Thanks

Not got round to doing the Win10 upgrade yet but will do soon.
The frst thing you want to do is locate the Vida.exe and right click on it and select the compatibility tab, then tell it to run in compatability mode for Win7 and it will probably work fine. |

Windows 10 Workaround
Has any one updated to Windows 10 and was able to run Vida? When I tried I get the Vida Monitor stuck in "Starting" (yellow) mode. It never gets to running. I only have Vida 2013 so if some one has 2014 I would like to know if they had success.
I did find a very time consuming work around for now. I created a dual boot system. Here is the procedure you can use until a Windows 10 solution is found VIDA Instructions (Windows 10) (After you upgraded to windows 10) 1 Create new partition (at least 70G) 2 Install Windows 7 Pro 3 Run Microsoft update to update Window 7 (Note this will take many update cycles and around 8 hours) 4 Boot up and select Windows 7 5. Insert the disk in the CD-ROM 6. Choose VIDA all-in-one 7. Choose the Language – English is Default 8. Follow the steps (Install on your C: drive) 9.At the end at VIDA Configuration choose INTERNET connection type. 10. Copy TSKILL.exe from Windows\System32 to Windows\SystWOW64 (Note this is only required for 64bit installs) 11 Copy the VIDA2013A_patch.exe to the C: drive 12. After reboot run the file VIDA2013A_patch. The patch should go on C: (not in C:\VIDA) 13. Login with ADMIN or 1 Note: When restarting Windows 7 you need to reinstall the VIDA2013A_patch to launch Vida. (So create a short cut on the Windows 7 Desk Top) If a new window will pop-up asking for username/password just close it and on the previous windows you will be logged in already |

I installed WM ware straight onto a Win8.1 install on Surface Pro 3, updated to Win 10 and everything is working fine.
However, I didn't need to install VIDA within VM Ware, thankfully I had a package that worked out of the box with my VIDA. |

Vida and windows 10 Home and Pro OK
Ignore the instructions in my previous post. VIDA 2013 WORKS OK WITH WINDOWS 10 PRO AND HOME VERSIONS.
All the problems I had were after the simple "keep every thing" Install. Something on my system was giving VIDA problems. After doing a complete clean install with Windows 10 pro VIDA started with no special actions on my 64 BIT desk top. After dong the same on my 64bit lap top with Windows 10 HOME edition I was surprised that VIDA also works perfect with it. |
