Can you tell what this is?
Recently when replacing the air quality sensor on my XC90 I found this object in the plenum chamber beneath the windscreen wipers. Can any one tell me what it is please? It measures 180mm x 30mm x 20mm. It is made from some sort of hard resin and as can be seen carries possibly a Volvo part number and references to gearboxes fitted to XC90s
Thanks |

I'm going to guess that what you have there is a Volvo "special service tool" of some kind, used by a franchised dealer in conjunction with repairs to your vehicle at some point in its history, which has been laid down and "lost" during that repair.
A further guess; it looks like it's something that's been designed either to set a specific clearance between components during service, or as some kind of key or extractor for a particular component(s).

Looks like a gearstick linkage adjustment or alignment tool/gauge.
