Default Trans oil cooler line rusty

Hi everyone

I'm figuring this out rusty bit of pipe work I discovered whilst doing an engine oil change to be the transmission oil cooler return line. It's weeping slightly so I've band aided it up until I get the part required. Which I think is part number 9180537

This part

Which looks like a nice n easy press fit at the cooler end

I'm guess this is a pretty easy thing to replace? Anyone had any experience?

I would guess it's pretty straightforwards. However you'll need care to get the fluid level back correct after draining...

I guess you could accurately meaure the fluid that escapes, and refill with exactly the same amount...or follow the level-cheching process which is in the "Articles" section...

Thanks Martin, I'll need to check levels anyway as it's been weeping for an unknown length of time, though nothing noticeable or gushing onto the floor but some has soaked into the sound deadening on the undertray when I removed it.

I think I've posted this in the wrong section!

I haven't had cause to replace mine but I think that part is something ridiculous like 100 quid. I reckon you could have a motorcycle brake line supplier make one from braided parts costing about half that

Just had a price of £78 delivered. Be nice if it was half that or less!

It's cheaper to buy stuff for the Porsche!

A twice-a-year squirt with ACF will keep all the potentially-rusty-bits rust-free:

I squirt it where I can see it after a spring-clean to get the salt off, and in autumn to protect against the winter salt - works a treat!

I've been using this for a few years now:

I've got a test piece that I leave out in the garden all year round and it's still rust free after 2 years.

My last landrover had a self protection system...sufficient oil leaked from various parts onto the drive system and was then spread liberally across the under side .. no chance of rust!!

This is the stuff I used on my 35 year old Porsche http://www.por15.com available in UK from http://www.frost.co.uk/brands/por15.html Once it is on the bare metal you can forget about rust.
