Question Volvo xc40 2021 click no engine start

Hi Guys,

New to the forum. Recently sustained a side impact to the left side fender of my volvo xc40, no damage to the fuse box, airbags, or batteries (mild and 12 v). I have checked all the fuses but cannot locate the issue with the car not starting, ignition comes on but when pressing the brake pedal and push start... all i hear is clicks from the starter motor. I have recently replaced the starter with a new one but the clicking noise remain and car still doesn't start. I have an autel diagnostic but this is not reading the car, i have been told that only VIDA works but i am not able to get a log in. Is there anyone here that has access to Vida and is local in London ? urgently need help to find out the cause of the car not starting. Thanks.

As you have learned it is no good guessing and its rather costly that way. It needs proper diagnosing by the dealer who has all the wiring diagrams and plug in break out boxes to do their tests quickly and efficiently., plug in tool diagnosing doesn't find everything in fact with most problems it doesn't help.

It maybe that something is damaged and needs resetting after the repair.

Thanks for the response. I did initially take it to Volvo dealership but they are refusing to investigate until the body repair is done (a ploy to get me to spend more). They provided a quote for the body repair which I said no to. So in a nutshell, the 1st and right option of taken it to them was done. But now I stand alone in an island seek alternative help.

Are you claiming on insurance ? If so should this issue not be part of the repair ?

If not and repairing yourself, do be aware, if damage has been done to a module anywhere it may be prohibitively expensive to repair at all ?

For example, some Volvos have the ECM module located in the front of the nearside wheel arch, damage to this and the associated wiring might not be a walk in the park to rectify.

Personally I would get the full picture before spending out on any body or other part repairs until I had all the information, involving a full diagnostic.

Just my opinion/s.

Thanks for the response and I 100% agree with you hence why the need for Vida. But access to vida is proving difficult, got my hand on vdash but the code being displayed... I can't make sense of it or don't know if it's legit.
