Default Radio Problem?

Hi Folks

I've noticed this happen lately.

If I sit in the car after turning the engine off I'll get a message saying "low battery, entertainment system shutting down in 2 mins" etc, which it then does.

It then comes back on briefly for about 5 seconds before switching off again. It'll continue doing this until I open the driver's door.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Just maybe it , (the car) is thinking that you are just sitting in and not getting out. So it is just reminding you that the battery is low. Once you open the door, no more need to remind you.

Thanks but the radio plays for a few seconds then switches off again. More of a software glitch I think than a purposeful reminder.

Gets really irritating if I'm waiting for someone and I have to open then close the door to stop it happening

I've had the low battery shutting down for the last couple of years and it does exactly what it says so, sorry, I don't know why yours should be different.

More annoying is that i can't sit in the car listening to the radio. It will give me an extra 2 minutes but then says power saving mode and shuts straight off. I guess I should replace the battery but it always starts fine.

Not really any help to you, but my experience is identical to ChrisV60s.

Best I can suggest
  • disconnect the battery to hopefully reset the system
  • install a new battery or charge current one, so it doesn't turn off.
  • a software update from the dealer
  • turn down the volume so you don't notice it.
  • live with it.

Thanks for your "help" especially the last two points

My 2012 V60 does the same, I can, to a degree, understand the reasoning but it's still annoying! I've decided to live with it as I'm not buying a new battery when it starts OK and the battery is at 12.4 volts+ when checked after sitting overnight! There's not much worth listening to on the radio anyway.

get an external battery charger and charge it up. This fixed mine i recall (for a short time), but you may find start/stop doesnt work either.

Seems to be a common issue, especailly if not used regularly and sometimes even if it is.

the external charger will charge the battery fully as it seems the cars charging cant quite keep it full but just topped up.
