Side lights ??

Sorry if I come across a bit thick but I think my side lights have blown ?
I have a 2003 v70 d5 and I only seem to have headlights and main beam.
Am I right in thinking that if my light switch is in the middle position / side light position then I should have the inner two bulbs on the front?
I currently have nothing but if I put the switch on the off position or headlight position then I have the headlights on?
Have my side light bulbs gone?
I'm easily confused !!!!!!

It's entirely possible. I know that a lot of the S40/C30's side lights went. Mine were out when i got my car.

Take the light out and take a look.
