Default rear door lock actuator

Hi,
I need to replace an actuator on one of the rear doors of my V40. Has anyone here done this? I have stripped the trim and I can sort of see where the actuator is but I can't see enough to figure out how to remove it. I believe there are 3/4 different types and I need to remove the faulty one to see which one it is.

Can anyone explain to me how to remove the actuator? Any help would be much appreciated!!

Are you sure it is the actuator? sometimes the wiring loom to the rear door can chafe causing wires to break therefore losing power to lights and locks etc. check the loom where it comes through the bodywork to the rear door. you should be able to get another actuator from ebay fairly cheaply.

hadn't thought of the wiring loom, I'll check that. thanks for the tip. Having looked at the situation again this evening it looks like the latch mechanism might need to be removed as well in order to extract the actuator... Its getting more complicated that I thought.

I had a look on ebay and there are generic actuators pretty cheap (10 rather than 110!). might be worth a try anyway at that price.

hi all,i fixed my drivers door lock actuator when i first got the car.it would'nt come back up when you unlocked the doors,if you forced it up it would stay there but if you locked it,it would'nt go up to unlock it.if the backs are the same as the fronts to get off then heres what you do.take off the door card and remove the cardboard sound stuff, then you undo the three screw bolts in the door panel, then yes you have to undo the lock mech at the side, if i can remember that part comes out with the actuator, next you will have to undo the door handle thing.it's a long bit of thick wire stuff that unclips so you can get the actuator out.you wont be able to remove this bit until the actuator is free from the bolts coz you need to turn it a bit to unhook it.and thats it,it should come out.all mine needed was lubing up,so half a tin off spray grease it works fine now.hope this helps mate.good luck
