lowered springs ?
hi i'v just been taken for a mug by lk performance in bradford probably my own fault for not buying from brookhouse or dai .I ordered a set of lowered springs for the amazon (1970 2 dr) at a silly price looked great when they turned up but just gone to fit em and they are way too long 30cm before compression but diameter seems ok at 10.9cm and are a progressive sports type does anyone know what they are off or would be willing to take them off me at a reduced price ..?
cant find the invoice and "customer service" only wanted to give me a credit note for em if i couriered them back to bradford at my expense and i dont want anything from them.. look fairly nice powdercoated etc just wrong..was wondering if i'd been sent 240 springs instead? will try and post up photos of them with tape measure references etc when my phones recharged:-) rear springs measure 38cm length x 11.4 cm diameter before compression . the brand of springs is roc and the box says they are tuv approved to fit volvo amazon 1957- surely they wont compress as much as as they need to? Don't forget that a progressive spring has 2, 3 if you calculate them together, compression rates so will initially compress a bit more than a standard spring after fitting. How much were these spring spec'd to lower the car? Did you take measurements from the car before you started, so you could compare?

ok i have phoned roc (lesjofors in disguise apparently?!) .
a very nice lady on the phone went through all the part numbers uncompressed specs etc and they match with each other so i do have the right parts ? they just look like they arent going to fit so should just take the plunge and fit the buggers and see |

Go for it! The rears are easy to do and will give you some idea as to how they fit and compress.
Just saying that that the softer part of the spring might give you a false impression and the spring might appear to be the same length or longer. I thought you already had a spring or two out and were already comparing the two side by side. Measure the highest point of the wheel arch to the ground and record the measurements so you have a comparison. |

The soft end of teh progressive spring is very soft and then does stiffen up at teh top. They keep the springs the same length as original so that the springs will not float loose. In the amazon you can afford to have much shorter springs than original without them being loose but you wold actualy have to design a spring for the car to work that out. When you just look at a data sheet and then make a lowering spring from that you then end up with something the ROC spring.

The Spax progressive springs are significantly longer than the old springs uncompressed as well.

I'm fairly sure all the progressive lowered springs from Spax, lesjofers etc. are copies of each other anyway!
