Sorry about this geeky question. Does any one know what colour the metal mounting plate for the fuse box and relays etc under the bonnet should be?

Secondly should I take any precautions when painting my engine block red. I know it will have to spotless, grease free. Do i need to use any primer?

Apologies thats two questions.

I'm not an 1800 owner but I think the relay bar is/was originally zinc plated. A satin silver would be close.
Engine paint needs no primer but the surface should be absolutely clean, smooth, and grease free.

The mounting plate should be black.
