Unhappy XC60 2014,Tailgate operation stopping along open&close

Hi,
I can only hope that someone can help. I have a 2014 D4 XC60 that no have a persistent problem on opening of tailgate, the door only opens up about 12" then if I press the open switch again it opens another couple of inches and so on until the door(tailgate) is fully open. This is the same when closing the tailgate only reverse.
This happens for all the controls of the tailgate.
I've just removed the chassis end of the strut(actuator) to check the operation of both struts and both struts operate when switch pressed.
any one have a similar problem.
is it the controller or actuators or in needed of software update?
Also if I replaced any of the components is there a need for a software update/change? as Volvo charge a lot for this service.

On trouble shooting, found that a fault code appears under the tailgate module. DTC code "93C767". I can't find any description to this code online, Can someone help?

Default Auto tailgate problem

Sounds like one or both of your struts may have broken a common fault on the early models. It’s expensive to rectify as both struts have to be changed and then coded to the software. Around £800 pounds at the dealers although aftermarket plug and play replacement can be bought on eBay for around £150 for each strut. There is a good video on you tube showing you how to change the struts.

There have been a couple of previous posts on this subject going back just a few pages, sees to have been solved by buying replacement struts from that well known auction site, at reasonable prices, plus a few part numbers too.
