When Volvo stopped producing the GLT shock the replacement was the standard shock which was supplied with a thick spacing washer to take up the slight difference in length. This may still be available otherwise make up your own using thick washer(s0 to overcome the difference. Don't replace just one shock - it needs to be both.
I know the correct shock is available through IPD in America but of course with carriage and import duty is quite expensive. The other alternative would be to change the struts for ones from a standard 240.
