HELP! Car Will Not Start At All- But not battery?
Hi, yesterday i parked my 440 up at work as usual, when i came out to go home i put the key in the ignition and go to start it but nothing, completly dead, not a single thing happens, all the lights work all the electric windows the dash all lights up etc, and i tired jump starting (just incase) it and it doesnt do anything, so its not the battery!
When i turn the key i can hear all the usual sounds as befor, but cant work it out, Tried looking at the relays under the bonnet but it doesnt say which one is which? So my car is now grounded to the drive way (got a mate to toe me home) and i was going to take it for an MOT tomorrow which i wont be able to do now! Its a 1.8 1994 Si, facelift version Thanks Jose |

Check the battery earth strap and the solenoid connection.

So, the engine wasn't turning over at all?
Did you hear any ticking / clicking type sound?

Might be the immobiliser - try using the fob to lock and unlock a few times and/or disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, then re-try.
Have a search on immobiliser |

As above matey, disconnect the battery for a while and then try. Have you not got breakdown cover?

OK, probelm has been fixed, after having a little fiddle under the bonnet around the starter motor i noticed the spade conector that runs from the ignition was very loose or not connected at all as it moved as soon as i touched it! After a little lunch i went back to it searching for the male secion on the starter to connect it back and BINGO! plugged it in and it fired up!
So thanks to all who have helped, i can now take it for its MOT tomorrow and another volo LIVES!! Incase any one in the future has a problem they can search for it and below it a photo to help! |
