V40 SE D2 Stop/start technical problem
I've just bought a 2012 V40 which is still under manufacturers guarantee. The information panel is showing that Stop/start needs servicing. It went into the dealership yesterday and they fitted a new ignition switch and all the codes reset.
The screen is still saying stop/start needs servicing. the dealership were baffled and reported it to Volvo, and are awaiting a reply. Has anyone else had this problem and if so does anyone know what the problem might be? |

Your problem rings a bell with me as I am sure I had the same issue with stop/start 4 years back on a hugely unreliable XC60, although cannot fully recall the exact message, do recall that when I turned the engine off and then back on the message went away, although it came back. I had a few issues caused by loose electrical connections (engine had been out), so worth ensuring all wiring is tight. Think also the alternator may have a part to play, because my alternator was chucking out the correct voltage and charge, but it wasn't 'reaching' the battery due to poor connections, which is what I recall created the issue with the stop start. So maybe your alternator? Or maybe just a connection?
I do believe the auxilliary battery for stop start in V40 is at the front end behind the bumper. Maybe you or someone has hit something causing something to become dislodged/fail? Regards |
