Bluetooth Media Player
Hi,
I have just bought an 09 v70 R Design and have built in bluetooth for my phone however my galaxy S2 only sees it as a phone device not as a media device also. Looking at the handbook it appears entirely possible to use the built in bluetooth as a media player for the phone to send music to but the phone doesn't see it as a media device also. I'm also wondering how you upgrade the firmware of the bluetooth in the car? Robert |

Hi,
I swear it did say it but now looking again I cannot see it. I'm guessing there probably is no such function and I must have read it elsewhere. Is it possible to upgrade the firmware of the bluetooth system on another note? Thank you Robert |

9 times out of time problems are the phones firmware either out of date , OR it has been updated and this has caused a problem like the infamous apple software problem a year or so ago . so if all is well,... best leave well alone :-)

Robert, just checked my handbook and there are a couple of pages about the "Bluetooth" and "Handsfree" telephone system but nothing about using "Bluetooth" as a media player, perhaps this was available on later V70 and XC70 models. My car has a 3.5mm socket in the glove box where I can plug in an iPhone, iPad or iPod using the earpiece socket on the iPhone etc but of course you still have to switch on the iPhone and manually select the music you want. It would be great to be able to do that through the steering wheel or radio/media controls without a hard-wire. I'd be interested if it could be done!!
PS. Looks like Clan just answered your (and my) question.

Phones stream media in different ways, and it can differ from phone to phone. My previous phone, a Nokia, would stream media to a bluetooth headset, but my present one, a Samsung Galaxy S2 will not. It is not a fault with the Volvo bluetooth system, its just the way mobile phone manufacturers set up their phones.
