CCM module replacement

So I have been working through all the issues and niggles I have with my new c30. One of which has been the aircon.

As of the moment it doesnt turn on when button is pressed, the light signals "on". I got vida and checked over everything, bypassed the relay and the AC worked. The ac button regardless of position says "unpressed" so I can only conclude that the CCM / center console needs replacing. On looking in vida though it was recommending me software and then on searching that software it looked like it wanted (forgive my lack of correct termonology here) a remap / reflash or whatever of the CCM itself.

Am I wrong in thinking I can get a center console out of any P1 volvo (given the buttons are the same) fit it and it will work, as a direct swap? Or does there need to be some software trickery that I am not able to do myself (without a legitimate copy of vida)
