How to instal maps
I have an XC90 with two USB ports in the glove box - one normal and one for carplay
When I unlock the car the Sensus system starts to boot up. I have put the USB stick in each USB slot and no indication that it is doing anything has happened. I thought maybe as Sensus had already begun to boot, I left the USB stick in the slot then locked the car and opened again - still nothing The map download has been verified as being a good download - any ideas ?

did you copy the map files straight to the usb drive? or did you copy the folder that gets created by the update app on the pc, with all the files in it? It needs to be the former for the Sensus system to pick up the update files.

Was your USB stick completely empty before downloading map update on to it, if there are any other files on it, it will not install.

Thinking about it, I need a USB to take 43GB so a 64GB USB, dont Scandisk have partitions on them - anyone know of a completely empty 64GB to purchase - link ?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toshiba-6...item28336531d6 I always insert the USB into the socket with the grey line around it (Carplay?) to upload maps to the car. Paul

You can open up the usb drive and delete any files on there, plug it in your pc open usb drive from my computer (usually drive E) right click on file and click delete. Or save the file to another drive or desktop to put back later if required.

Don't remember it being partitioned but it defo works. There's a 64GB version too. I'm pretty sure I have installed map updates with other folders/files on the stick. The important thing is for all the map files to be in the root of the drive.

I don't see why that would be a problem.

I purchased one of these recently. Then I:
Inserted into my Mac Deleted the free backup software that generally comes on new USB drives Downloaded and installed the Volvo map update software Used the software to download directly to the newly inserted USB drive (full western Europe) Ejected the drive Went to the car and waited for Sensus to start Inserted into the regular (not CarPlay) USB socket Watched the install start and work through a few % Left and locked the car Let my wife do a few school runs (10 minutes each way) Next time I was in the car the update was complete and all good. :wq

Umm all very interesting.
The download has been successful as confirmed by Volvo site. The files are the only files on the USB in root directory after formatting and removing partitions. - I am wondering if this USB has one or two files either deleted or hidden that the car is falling over. Ordered a new USB from link above and will try again once download is done. Does it matter what slot it goes into in the car - normal or carplay ?
