Default Playing DVD sound through Speakers

Hi All,
I have recently purchased a 2004 D5 SE XC90 with the built in 10 disc dvd player with monitors in the headrests but no headphones.
As my son has only just turned 1yr old i didnlt really fancy him wearing headphones as he'd probably end up breaking them being so young so after searching the net for a way to play the sound through the car's speakers and various people have said i can play the sound through the speakers by tuning in my radio to the dvd player but nobody knew what the radio frenquency was.

After much messing around and tuning with my radio I have found the frenquency needed is FM 88.1

I hope this is of help to anyone who needs to know as it took me sometime to find out how and what to do.

Don't know if this applies to your model or not, but my 2011MY has a small rocker switch in the centre console marked RSE (rear seat entertainment)

Try making sure this is on.

There's some kind of aux input between the back 2 seats on the 10 disc boot fitted system but i think it might just patch into the dvd system for a console or external media player. As I understand it you need headphones on the same wifi frequency to get audio. I'm tryin to find some myself. This can be found in the menu settings, there are 2 frequencies for 2 heapdhones.

can you not get a fm transmitter and plug this in the the headphone jack plug then you just tune the radio into a frequency which you choose on the fm transmitter and the sound should play through the speakers.I did this with a tv in my caravan by plugging the FM transmitter into the headphone jack plug and tuning the caravan radio to the same frequency.I don't know if the rear seat entertainment has a jack plug for the headphones but if it has this should work. You can pick up a FM transmitter on amazon for about £6or 7.
