Default Door lock and all electrics dead in passenger side rear door

HELP!! My 2006 S40 sport has an issue that I need to sort before the MOT come up in a month or so. So the rear door is locked can’t wind the windows down on any switch seems all electrics are dead although the speaker in that door still works so there’s obviously some power getting to it even if just the speaker 🔈 ve tried getting bro the wiring in the pillar to no success there doesn’t seem to be a plug I can just unclip and clean with contact cleaner. I have also checked all door fuses (as per the manual) and they’re all fine I’m at my wits end with it now. My first Volvo a 1997 V70 2.5 petrol was faultless and took me literally around Europe before I decided to “upgrade” to this royal pain in the Arse of a S40. And it’s put me off the newer cars and I’m hoping to sort this get MOT get rid and get an old V70 again.

Door electric module will be goosed. Pain in the backside to remove the door card from the inside with the door deadlocked without damaging the door card. Dealer cost about £300 to sort mine when that happened to me. Unit needs coded to the car so self replacement or second hand part not an option.

Are you certain of this? I was under the impression that new front door modules are supplied un-configured, and need to have software downloaded to set them up for the options fitted to the car, but can be replaced with second hand units provided they come from the same spec car.

Rear door modules just need to be replaced with one with the same part number, as there are also different modules for early and late cars with the changeover somewhere in 2008.

I've swapped a front door module with a part from a breakers, and all works fine.

Just going from what I'd previously read on the forums, on VIDA and what was confirmed to me by the dealer. If something else has worked for you though, all good.

If you open the door wide and look down where the hinge is there is a large black plug.

Pull it out, give it a clean up and wiggle back in - I've had this a few times and this always sorts it out.

The door doesn’t open at all? And there’s no plug on the pillar if I open the front door
