Grill & Boot badges
Afternoon all.
Gave the 240 saloon a good clean this afternoon (not easy with the current hose pipe ban!) and noticed that the 'Volvo' badges front and rear were looking the worse for wear. The front one on the grill is badly marked and the ones on the boot have lost their 'chrome' finnish. Had anyone replaced their badges with new ones? The boot ones look as though they are stuck on - my guess is that they could be awkward to remove - any tips from those that have done it? The front one is integral to the diagonal strip on the grill - the whole thing being attached by what appear to be 'studs' pressed into holes in the pastic grill. I have poked about a bit but there is no 'give' re this so I would be worried about breaking the rather fragile looking grill unit getting it off - anyone done this and have some tips? I know from past enquiries that Braydon can get a hold of new badges for about £15 each. Ian |

Same problem
Ian, I have the same problem, cant get a replacement grill now but you mentioned one from Bradon, have you a phone number...?
I have a spare grill which I shall attemp to dismantle and get the inner section out as a trial...dont want to damage my one on the car. |

I have found that Braydon can get just about anything - but beware - some parts are expensive!
Telephone 020 8985 2255 and ask for Bob. He's OK - his advice had saved me money in the past, for example when I enquired about new headlight units as the old ones had gone rusty he told me just to replace the reflectors and posted a pair at £20 each - they arrived the next day. Braydon also sell 2nd hand parts but Ive never had any from them - I tend to use more local breakers for these type of parts. I dont think there much point in getting trim items from breakers unless they can guarentee that the parts are pristine - which is unlikely I guess. Ian |
