Default New v50 grille

I quite like the big round badge on the new V50 and the grille looks identical to the R design one on mine. Does anyone know if it will fit or you can buy the badge seperately?
I have tried FRF and they have given me a price of £80 plus vat - Im thinking this is quite expensive for a badge (you are paying for a badge!). where else could I try?

I never noticed the larger badge before.
Looking at the Volvo web site and the gallery pics, seems the larger badge has been integrated in to the grille. Not just a stick on.
Seems to be surrounded by black plastic as does the 45deg bar.
Interestingly, there appears to be a panel behind the grille, could it be just an airflow deflector?

No, the badge and chrome strips come in 3 pieces and yes it has a plastic surround.

I have received a price from FRF of aprox £80 plus vat for the badge and chrome pieces. I have requested only the badge at £20 pls vat as I can use the existing chrome strips - not too bothered about the plastic surround on the chrome strips - if it doesnt look right I will order the strips.

Will post up pics when complete.

I'm attaching pictures of the grilles as an FYI.
The grille for the XC version seems to have "patterned" edges on the main iron work.
The V50 has smooth edges!

This is weird. I was just considering starting a topic on this very subject. All being well i should be the owner of a nice '57 plate R-Design T5 next week and would really like the new larger grill badge. If it just replaces the existing badge then that sounds great. I was thinking i'd have to order a whole grille.

Dave,

We think alike - great minds and all that!

Nice motor, wish sometimes I had the power of the T5, mines a 1.8 with the T5 looks.

Looking at the existing R Design grille, the badge and chrome strips are one piece whereas the new badge and strips are separate pieces.

The plan is: if the badge sits over the existing chrome strips (which it appears to do in Jasons pics above) then I can neatly cut with a dremmel the strips off the current badge and fix the new badge down. I will know Thurs night as it should have arrived by then.

If this doesnt work then I may need to order the chrome strips as well (£100 approx).

If this doesnt work then its a new R Design grille at £140 - but I dont think I will go this far - I will abandon the idea for fear of living in the shed in the garden for the rest of my days - the misus would not be happy! You pay for a badge!

Guys, take a look at the 2008 V50 grille (attached), notice the angle of the chrome bar, on the 2010 grille the angle is greater making the total length of the bar longer. Might look a little odd with the bigger badge unless you can adjust the angle? Might need to use some 3M double sided tape to affix?

Might be cheaper to buy the whole grille in the long run...for the perfectionists!!!

I'll put the new badge over the old one first and see. I see your point. Might need the chrome strips as well.

I'm not shelling out another £140 (plus the VAT!) as I've had this R design grille less than 12 months. Unless of course I can sell this one for say £100 quid.

Will let you know my findings.

Personally speaking, I'm not sure how far I want to take the face-lift.
Volvo must be six months away from releasing an update or all new V50?

I took a look at the C30 2010 today (parked in my local Waitrose).
The latest face-lift has the new lights and a honeycomb style grille.

See my quick and dirty piccy!
