Smile Dension Gateway 500 for Volvo

Hi, has anyone fitted this Dension 500 to a Volvo V50 MY2010 yet? If so, I'd be interested to know if it works okay.

Thanks.

Just out of interest, why do you want to add a Dension gateay as your car should have an aux input in the armrest area?

So, you would expect, however - apparently if you have bluetooth fitted you don't get the aux input. I've got the bluetooth connection, not through choice, that's how it came. Bought it as ex-demonstrator.

I'm looking into the official Volvo V50 ipod/USB interface also, as I'm concerned about compatibility issues.

Cheers.

I have been looking into adding the Dension unit to my 08 V50 but it looks like it won't work with my Premium Sound System. I am waiting for an update or if someone else has a fix I would also like to know about it. Really want to be able to control my iPod through the steering wheel/CD player.

Yes the Dension website covers Volvo S40/V50 years 2004 to 2006.
I would find a site that offer a supply and install service, even sellers on ebay and ask them the question - they are the experts.

I had neither bluetooth or ipod aux on my 2004 volvo so went for the Parrot option that covers both - that was my best option.

Guru on here is normally pretty gemmed up in issues like this - have you tried asking him?

The guys over on the american c30 forum have tried these and they dont work with the units after 07, there seems to be a change in the hard ware units from the 08s on on the c30. they have retro fit the volvo usb/ipod kit it looks a straight forward ( if you have the magical bone tool) if lengthy process to install then it needs a software update by volvo to activate it, even doing it yourself you wont get change out of £300 once volvo take the programming fee.
these denison units (i had one in my c4 and clio) just replace a cd changer and pretend to one, i dont think the new units are capable of taking CD changers so thats why they wont work.

Thanks Jaff
Does this mean that the only option for iPod integration on 07 and later models with premium sound is the Volvo USB & iPod Music Interface?

Unfortunatly yes, that price is a bit dear it almost makes the £450 fitted price worth it. but its not just the permium system its any audio system after 07.

the guys on there have done some like trick installs with hidden power sockets and stuff but basically it ends up just having one plug going from the power socet the other to the aux socket.
like this is the only real option unless you go the parrot kit route.

Thanks again Jaff, looks like the iPod unit from the dealer for me. I fitted a parrot unit to my wife's car so will have a go at installing this myself.

I also installed a Parrot MKI9200 -I have posted a thread on here of how to install with pictures for those wanting to install one.

The sound is pretty good plus the benefits of having bluetooth as well.
Set me back £175 inc the harness.
