Default Girling calipers

Hi Can someone help with a Girling brake caliper question. Are the caliper piston dust covers held on with a thin metal ring or are the rings only used in a "pattern type" dust cover that come with a groove for the ring.
I had recently fitted new covers to the front brakes but the nearside wheel seized up.Fortunatly I was nearly home & on stripping the brake down found the a piston siezed. After looking through the forum I found excellent advice how to free the piston.
Alas a couple of the new covers had distorted with the friction heat.

Hi ken..I recently had the same issue as yourself with one piston in particular..(same side as yours)..the car was sluggish and i knew what was going on..luckily it was not a real burner but i could smell it cooking on arrival to my job..I"ve freed this piston on several occasions and removed the dust cover to clean with brake fluid..I have to say getting that boot on again with the caliper in situ was a real pig..i have a feeling it may have popped off again giving me new problems..To the best of my knowledge there are no clips on the front boots..sounds like the rubbers on your motor have had it..probably mine as well..good luck hj.

Hi Honest Joe the easiest way I found to fit the boot is to lift the caliper over the disc & suspend it with strong string. Then you can work on both sides but still awkard with big hands.Just as a matter of interest I received new genuine Volvo front pads today made in India.I used to work at Triplex in St.Helens & we made Volvo windscreens & side glass.I wonder where other parts are made?
